if I had a nickel for every time I watch a kdrama and become rapidly obsessed with the imaginary relationship of side characters in the drama- who weren't interested canonically, have/had different partners, are not gay(as far as the writers know), have like two scenes together, and ultimately don't care that much about each other/ aren't onscreen much together- I wouldn't have much but it's really really weird that it has happened thrice.

The History of Korean Female Soloists from the 20th Century: Episode 2/?
The evolution of Korean female soloists in the early 20th century is a fascinating narrative, particularly against the backdrop of Japanese occupation. During this tumultuous period, several remarkable artists emerged, carving out their identities and gaining recognition despite the challenges they faced. However, the historical documentation of these pioneering women is often limited, as they were active nearly a century ago, before the Korean War, leading to a significant gap in available records. Their contributions, though sometimes overshadowed by the era's struggles, remain a vital part of Korea's cultural heritage.
Jeon Hae-nam (전혜남)
The lack of information regarding Jeon Hae-nam, the wife of the esteemed veteran dancer Kang Yun-bok (강윤복) from the 'Joseon Akgeuk Troupe,' is both disheartening and perplexing. Despite her significant contributions as a pioneer in Korean tap dancing and her association with a prominent figure who transformed the performing arts landscape, she remains largely obscure. In contrast, other artists, even those who have faded from public recognition or were not particularly renowned, often have a considerable amount of information available about them. This disparity highlights the unfortunate reality that Jeon Hae-nam's legacy is not adequately documented, leaving her remarkable achievements underappreciated and largely unknown. This gap in historical recognition is one of the driving forces behind my efforts to shed light on such artists. I am passionate about encouraging others who share my love for Korean music to explore and appreciate the works of these talented individuals who made their mark in the 20th century. By bringing attention to their contributions, I hope to foster a deeper understanding and appreciation for the rich cultural heritage they represent.

Jeon Hae-nam, a prominent figure in the realm of dance, was born in Pyongyang in 1924 and relocated to Seoul during her childhood, where she spent her formative years. Her journey into the world of performing arts began at Sookmyung Girls' High School (숙명여자고등학교;淑明女子高等學校), where she encountered an advertisement for the inaugural class of the Oke Music and Dance Research Institute. After successfully applying and being selected for an interview, she demonstrated exceptional talent in dance, frequently sharing the stage with fellow student Ju-ri. Her artistic endeavours extended beyond the classroom, as she participated in international performances with the Joseon Music Troupe across Japan, China, and Manchuria.

Following the passing of Lee Cheol (이철), the leader of the Joseon Music Troupe, Jeon Hae-nam remained committed to the troupe's activities until Korea's liberation in 1945. In the aftermath of this pivotal moment, she took on a significant role as a lead dancer in the newly established Joseon Akgeuk Troupe and later in the Rose Orchestra. Additionally, she contributed her expertise in choreography and dance to the KPK Orchestra, which was directed by Kim Hae-song (김해송), further solidifying her influence in the performing arts landscape of the time.
I previously discussed the Joseon music troupe in Part 5 of 'The History of Korean Male Groups'.
Kang Yun-bok and Jeon Hae-nam (Photo = Park Sung-seo, popular music critic)
In the 1950s, Jeon Hae-nam became a vital member of the 'Beni Kim Show,' associated with the US 8th Army show group Hwayang, and performed at various US military installations in Okinawa, Japan. Her artistic contributions continued during the Vietnam War, where she participated in the 'Vietnam Soldier Comfort Performance.' Later in her career, she served as a choreographer and dance instructor at KBS before her retirement. Kang Yun-bok (real name Kang Yun-deok) was married to the modern dance pioneer Jeon Hae-nam (1929-2011, birth name Park Eung-cheon (박응천)), and together they led the 'Jeon Hae-nam Dance Company.' Park Sung-seo (박성서), a noted music critic, recognized her dedication to the evolution of dance in Korea, highlighting her role as the last surviving member of the Joseon Musical Troupe and her collaborative efforts with her husband to transform the nation's performing arts. She is survived by her son Park Jae-bin and her daughters Dan-hee, Jin-hee, and Hyeon-hee.

Lovely Runner - A Fusion of Heartfelt Drama and Fantasy
"Lovely Runner" has been highly anticipated by K-drama enthusiasts, and it doesn't disappoint. Starring Byeon Woo-seok and Kim Hye-yoon, this 2024 series, based on the popular web novel "Tomorrow's Best" and its webtoon adaptation
youtube
A Plot Steeped in Emotion and Intrigue
"Lovely Runner" centers around Im Sol (Kim Hye-yoon), a former aspiring film director who finds her dreams crushed by a tragic accident that leaves her paralyzed. Sol's life takes another heartbreaking turn when her idol, Ryu Sun-jae (Byeon Woo-seok), a multifaceted celebrity, dies unexpectedly. However, the narrative takes a fantastical twist when Sol wakes up 15 years in the past, with an opportunity to rewrite both her and Sun-jae's destinies.
The premise alone promises a rich exploration of themes like fate, second chances, and the enduring power of dreams. As Sol grapples with her newfound reality, viewers are taken on an emotional rollercoaster that is both poignant and exhilarating.
Outstanding Performances
Kim Hye-yoon shines as Im Sol, bringing depth and nuance to her character's journey from despair to hope. Her portrayal captures the essence of a woman determined to seize her second chance, making Sol's struggles and triumphs profoundly relatable.
Byeon Woo-seok's performance as Ryu Sun-jae is equally compelling. He seamlessly transitions between the charismatic idol and the vulnerable individual behind the public persona. The chemistry between Kim Hye-yoon and Byeon Woo-seok is palpable, adding a layer of authenticity to their characters' intertwined fates.
Supporting Characters Add Richness
The supporting cast also deserves praise for their contributions to the story. Song Geon-hee as Kim Tae-sung, Lee Seung-hyub as Baek In-hyuk, and Jung Young-ju as Park Bok-soon deliver strong performances that enrich the narrative. Each character brings a unique perspective, making the world of "Lovely Runner" vibrant and multifaceted.
Special mentions go to Park Tae-hwan, Kwon Yu-ri, and Han Seung-yeon for their memorable cameos, which add a touch of realism and excitement to the drama.
The visual storytelling in "Lovely Runner" is captivating, with carefully crafted scenes that enhance the emotional impact of the story. The soundtrack complements the drama perfectly, adding depth to key moments and enhancing the overall viewing experience.
youtube
"Lovely Runner" is a compelling drama that expertly weaves together elements of fantasy and melodrama. Its strong narrative, combined with stellar performances and high production values, make it a standout series in the 2024 K-drama lineup. Whether you're a fan of time-travel tales or emotional character-driven stories, "Lovely Runner" offers a heartfelt and engaging viewing experience.
So, grab your tissues and get ready to embark on a journey through time with Im Sol and Ryu Sun-jae. "Lovely Runner" is more than just a drama; it's a testament to the power of resilience and the beauty of second chances.
Honest Comment: At first I thought this will be like the typical love story a series about a high school life that the girl will fall in love with its Idol like obsessed with her Idol but when I start watching I love how the episode go , how the flow of the series its like the year of Korean Drama 2016 it made me feel the past like it was my first time watching Korean drama. I love how fresh the story you will be fluttered especially the interaction with the 2 Protagonist the story surrounds them and the story line is a masterpiece. It gives the vibe that you wanted to fall in love again. Highly recommended for first timer , Big Thumbs Up!!!

Immortal Being that Still Somehow has Parent Issues: Myul Mang/Doom (Doom at your Service) Lee Yeon & Lee Rang (Tale of the Nine Tailed) Jeong Gu-won (My Demon)
Added trauma flavour: Parent was murdered in front of them (**Still counts if they survived the murder Parent tried to murder them Dying from seemingly incurable disease which makes their parents/guardian sad (If your parents are alive, you must pay for it by dying yourself) Adoptive parent/stepparent is THE WORST
Somehow has normal, alive parents: Lee Jun-ho (Extraordinary Attorney Woo, Has no backstory at all. We only meet his older sister and hear nothing about his childhood.) Shin Ha-ri (Business Proposal, her family is refreshingly normal, right down to her brother being sent out to find her when she's drunk) Oh Han-byeol (Sh**ting Stars, Again, we know almost nothing about her family, only that she has twin sisters. But she doesn't appear to have childhood trauma.) Park Yeon-woo (The Story of Park's Marriage Contract, her mom being annoyed at her for something that is a crime doesn't count as bad parenting) Lee Young-joon/Sung-hyun (What's Wrong with Secretary Kim, his trauma comes from a kidnapper, his parents faced a pretty impossible situation and did their best. They clearly love their kids) Baek Hyun-woo (Queen of Tears, nothing wrong with them out of the ordinary and they are in the drama a significant amount.) Ha Eun-gyeol (Twinkling Watermelon, very loving parents and the deafness and their reliance on him is not anyone's fault)
*Counting her as an orphan even though she gets her parents back after 20 years, she spent her childhood orphaned. ***This character is tricky because I understand why her mother wanted nothing to do with her, but her trying to manipulate the dad and also saying he didn't raise her properly made me so angry. ****This character is tricky because he was explicitly raised as an orphan by his grandma, his father didn't sign his birth certificate (Korean equivalent of this), and he's registered as the child of his grandmother, not his actual mom. His grandma is dead by the beginning of the series and he is living alone without family, so I think he counts as an orphan.
Uncatagorized due to lack of clarity on parents: Soundtrack #1, Hospital Playlist, Happiness
#kdramas#so many orphans#you would think that Korean children never have parents who make it to 60#if they manage to be alive they are the worst

BLOODHOUNDS // KDRAMA DİZİ YORUMU
UYARI : Yazılar genel olarak spoiler içerebilir. İçermeyedebilir.
İmdb puanı: 8,1 Benim puanım: 9
Drama: Bloodhounds (English title) / Hunting Dogs (literal title)
Hangul:
Director: Kim Joo-Hwan
Writer: Jung Chan (webcomic), Kim Joo-Hwan
Date: 2023
Language: Korean
Country: South Korea
Cast: Woo Do-Hwan, Lee Sang-Yi, Heo Jun-Ho, Kim Sae-Ron, Park Sung-Woong, Choi Si-Won
Başroldeki iki erkeğin bromance’i enfesti.

Blir så glad ❤️ Lara, mini me ❤️

Seo Jung-hee → Kim Seung-hyun, a family trip that burns
Seo Dong-ju suffered properly because of Seo Jeong-hee.
In KBS2's 'Walking Into the Fantastic', which aired on the 22nd, various star families were drawn to go on a family trip.
Kim Seung-hyun appeared alongside his wife, broadcast writer Jang Jeong-yoon, for the first time. Jang Jung-yoon said of her family that she "is living a decent life" and that she is "of the love and war genre".
Seo Jeong-hee, her daughter Seo Dong-ju, and her mother Jang Bok-suk appeared. Seo Jung-hee said, "After being diagnosed with breast cancer, I am undergoing chemotherapy. Today, I wore a wig. Traveling when I was very sick was psychologically difficult. When my visuals weakened, I lost my spirits, but because of the swelling, I came out like a hippo. That made me feel bad." said.
Seo Dong-ju said that she planned a mother-daughter trip for her 3rd generation herself, and she showed a warm side, saying, "Her mother is sick and her grandmother is sick. She went on a trip as a surprise 60th birthday party to get good energy."
She planned her trip to Taiwan with Seo Dong-joo. Seo Dong-joo said, "Her mother is sick. Even if she goes on a trip, in the end she only has good memories. That's why she wants to go on a trip." Seo Jeong-hee said, "I want to go and take a break. I hope I can eat something delicious and take a lot of pictures," she said.
Jang Jung-yoon said, "I don't have aegyo, so even if I call my mother, I don't know what to say. So even if I call, my mother hangs up. It's awkward because there's not much interaction." Kim Seung-hyun said, "I have to do well in the middle, but I feel more awkward."
Jang Jung-yoon said, "Her mother-in-law complains about the difficult times in her childhood. She felt sorry for her as a woman. So, she wanted to give her mother a good time, so she did it."
Kim Seung-hyun suggested, "Let's go to Paris, France with my parents," and said, "Your friends will envy you. Set an example. Let's go with your daughter Subin and younger brother Seung-hwan." Jang Jeong-yoon said terribly, “How about I fall for it?”
Jang Jeong-yoon said, "Her husband suffered a lot. He suffered like her family, and I can understand her wanting to do something for her family. As her daughter-in-law, I don't really like it, but I have to understand her husband." did.
